LOCATİON: Dirre Dhawa located in the easter part of Oromiya, it is part of Hararge.İt is the second largest city of Oromiya after Finfinne(the capital city of Oromiya).
POPULATİON:The Oromo population is the largest population in Dire Dhawa which is more than 60% despite the current immigration of pastoralist somalis and some ethnic group in need of food and shelter.
LANGUAGE :Afan Oromo is the most dominant language both in rural and city center despite unfair use of Amharic as the official language.Because of using Amharic language in government offices and court,the Oromos in Dirre Dhawa are in great difficulty for not knowing Amharic language. So what is the motive behind using Amharic language in the dominated city of Oromo? İs that the policy of amharization or Nasizm?
Dirre Dhawa is the city in Hararge region,Ethiopia. İt is a commercial and industrial center located on the Finfinne - Djibouti railroad. Manufactures include processed meat,vegetable oil,textiles and cement. There are railroad workshops in the city.
CULTURAL HERİTAGE AND TOURİSM:The city has cultural as well as modern tourist attraction sites. These include Laga Oda cave and mural paintings, Goda ajewa, Hunkuftu cave and others.
TOURİSM:
1/The remains or the British airmen and African soldiers who, during the second World War, fought besides the ethiopian forces to liberate Ethiopian from İtalian occupation.
2/The railway line that reached Dirre Dhawa in 1902 is believed to have been the reason the city came into being in the first place. That is why the railway station is one of the destinations of tourists and other visitors coming to the city.
3/Kafira is a traditional market place where one can see the colourful presentation of Oromo population of the region in their cultural dresses. The presence of camels,donkeys, and the inevitable Gharris,two wheeled carts drown by a horse or a mule gives it an aura of going back to medieval times.
4/İTALİAN MOSQUE:This is one of largest mosques found in the city. İt is called İtalian mosque because the İtalians built it during their short- lived occupation of ethiopia.

1.ALİ BİRRA
Ali Birra is a famous Oromo singer, composer,poet in the Horn of Africa.He is one of the Oromo nationalist. He was born in Lagaharre village in the city of Dirre Dhawa,Oromiya.
2.AHMED A. MUDE
Ahmed Abdullahi Muude was born in Dirre Dhawa. After completing elementery education in Oromo muslim school( madrasa al jadiidah), and juniour secondary education at Mekonnen secondary school, he became a professional soccer player
Ahmed Muude was one of the few Oromo nationalists who took part in pan-oromo national consciousness movement in the 1960s in the city of Dirre Dhawa. When Oromummaa (nationalism) was at its infancy, Ahmed Muude was the leader and pioneer of the "Biiftu Ganamaa" musical band or Hawwiso-which greatly helped to ignite nationalism in Dirree Dhawa and contributed to the growth of Oromo Music and language.
As a professional soccer player for the "Ethiopian Textile Company" or "Cotton Team" as it is locally known, Muude was a popular sportsman and a role model in the community. Because of his involvement in the nationalist movement, and in order, to escape arrest by the Haile sillase regime; Muude was forced to flee to Somalia.
3.NUHOO GOOBANA
He is also one of the known Oromo singer born in Dirre Dhawa. He is know by his Oromo nationalist song.
4.MAHDİ XİQQAA
He is also called "ALİ BİRRAA XİQQA",small Ali Birra,.He was called "Ali Birra Xiqqaa" for his great potential to be like Ali Birra,the great singer,. He is also born in Dirre Dhawa and contributing his famous song to his people.
Generally Dirre Dhawa is a land of Oromo population both in rural and city center. And it has so many tourist center, and it is suitable for agricultural, industry and investment.İt has also so many historic places. Dirre Dhawa is one of the center of Oromo Nationalism in which so many Oromo nationalist elite,singer,warrior for freedom..etc are originated.
